Building the Spaces Where Culture Lives

Matter and Colour Properties Limited is a Lusaka-based private development company established to develop, acquire, restore, manage, and operate real estate and cultural infrastructure.

We work at the intersection of property development, creative economy building, and urban regeneration, delivering permanently managed spaces for artistic production, cultural programming, hospitality, research, and commercial enterprise.

Our work begins in Zambia, where we are investing in the cultural infrastructure that the continent’s creative economy demands. And it extends to the global relationships and networks through which that infrastructure finds its meaning.

  • Matter and Colour Properties operates across the full lifecycle of cultural real estate:

    –    Acquisition and restoration of historic and industrial buildings

    –    Creation and management of artist studios and creative workspaces

    –    Cultural venues, performance and exhibition spaces

    –    Research and learning facilities

    –    Commercial amenities: cafés, retail, event spaces, and hospitality

We develop and manage building spaces that are sustained, programmed, and embedded in the communities they serve over the long term.

  • We are currently developing our first major project: a landmark cultural development in Lusaka that will bring together artist studios, creative workspaces, cultural programming, hospitality, and community amenity within a single, permanently managed environment.

The project represents a significant opportunity for investors and partners who understand the social, cultural, and financial value of building creative infrastructure in one of Africa’s most dynamic and rapidly growing cities.

We are seeking investment partners, development collaborators, and institutional allies who share our conviction that cultural infrastructure is not a luxury, it is a foundation.

  • We are open to conversations with investors, development partners, foundations, and institutions at any stage of interest. Whether you are at the early stages of exploring what cultural investment might mean for you, or ready to engage in detailed discussions, we would welcome the conversation.
